I'm staking my claim on the hot southern goddess.
Women were always in abundance.
Zoey is the only woman who can make the other women disappear.
One problem. She’s not looking for a man.
Zoey is sassy, hot and has curves that never stop.
One touch of those soft lips and I knew I had to claim every inch of her.
I have one night. I’ll prove to her that I’m the only man who can satisfy her.
She’ll be clutching the sheets and seeing stars when I’m done with her.
I don’t care about her dark past.
I’m her future.
Whoever caused this mocha beauty sadness will witness my wrath.

Not Giving Up Book 1 edition by Posey Parks Shantee Parks Literature Fiction eBooks
This is my review and how I see it. Author Shantee' Parks in her interracial novel Not Giving Up gives us a well-developed story of a man who is looking for his soul mate the kind of love that his parents have and once he finds it he will have to work hard to keep it. One day he meets the woman of his dreams and the road to her heart is not an easy one.He learns why she does not feel worthy of his love and there are other forces that will try to destroy what he want with his woman.
I was confused at why the author revealed the culprit at the end of book one; however, up until that moment I thought that it was someone else, and then again I should have suspected her too.

Not Giving Up Book 1 edition by Posey Parks Shantee Parks Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I tried to like this book but I couldn't. This book fell short in so many ways. I cannot believe all of the good reviews this book got. If this was this authors best attempt, I applaud it, but she needs to go back to the drawing board. I didn't like Zoey. Her character was so flawed and it had nothing to do with the molestation she experienced at 15, even though that was supposed to be the reason for her being so messed up, I did not buy it. This story was so rushed. The way she and Asher fell in love was so unbelievable. I hate the fact that I even had to rate this book before I could write a review. Now let's talk about the relationship she had with her stepfather. The author talks about how she was groomed by him, how she ultimately became his victim, how he stole her innocence, how she ultimately fell in love with him, began to resent her mother bc she viewed him as her man, and how she did it all because she believed her mother would lose the lifestyle she had become accustomed to if she told her mother about what was going on. I just didnt buy that. Maybe it was because her mother had already proven she would protect. Had already shown she loved her child. Maybe it was Zoey's age. Had she been younger, I could have bought what the author was selling, but Zoey was 15, with a protective mother. How could she beleive she couldn't go to her mom? Then we have little snippets about how the mother found out and disowned the daughter. There were 2 victims in this story. Yet, Zoey's mother goes from being a loving mom who would kill for her child to being a heartless witch who disowned her child. There was no talk of the mothers pain, no discussion on how she had to deal with her daughter being a victim, to becoming her stepfather willing lover and manipulating the situation to get what she wanted. No talk anout how the mother had to deal with the fact that her daughter went from victim to willing participant, who was smart enough to use blackmail to get what she wanted. Which proves that on some level the victim was no longer a victim. The author only talked about how she felt bad for her actions but everyone said ALL of her actions, to include manipulating what was happening to her, to get everything she wanted, wasn't her fault. Zoey crossed the line from victim to willing participant the minute she started using her situation to get everything she wanted. The author glossed over all of that. Zoey knew she had a mother willing to protect her bc her mother had already proven. When her relationship at 15, started with her stepfather, she was old enough to know that it was wrong, and old enough to know that her mother would protect her. So the mother went from loving mom to villian. Her feelings were never explored. The sad is part is that the relationship between Zoey and her stepfather would have continued and only stopped bc her grandmother figured it out. Then, lets not even talk about the snippets of displayed self-destructive behavior by Zoey. This book left me, as a victim of something similar happening to me at that age, angry and pissed off. I won't read book 2 or anything else by this author. When an author tackles a subject matter like, that author needs to her research and show more sensitivity to all of the victims involved. I know this was a work of fiction, but I could have sworn, that even fiction novelist did research on subject matter before they decide to write on topics. Wow.
This book was so over exaggerated. If I could give it negative 1 star I would. It had a really great elements that the author watered down with unnecessary drama. This was so bad don't see myself ordering the next books in the series
When love strikes one must take the good with the bad. The ending was abrupt. It left much to be answered. The development of the storyline was paced well with a few hiccups. The subject matter was intense. Especially when you are left to deal with the knowledge of molestation.
Brandon being a playboy but still believing and wanting the one was what kept you wanting to know how Zoey would hook him.
I couldn’t put this book down. Brandon and Zoey was like a fairy tale love affair. Had me believing in love againπππ. But every love affair has some haters and that Sandy was so freaking jealous of Zoey but Brandon didn’t need her after he fell in love with Zoey. But Sandy was on some different crap....
I can’t wait to read Book 2 and I hope Zoey doesn’t give up.
This story start out with two people meeting in a ice cream shop and becoming lovers first and then friends. Mother is a piece of sh#t for her treatment of her daughter and a stepfather who prays on a young girl who would do anything for her mother. The love they find will be tested and look out for the evil bitch in the background. Glad she has Samantha aka Skylar as a New best friend.
Don't you hate when folks just won't let others be happy? Especially when the situation they perceived it to be was NOT the situation at all. Sandy is a liar, she knew Brandon and her hook-up's were just that, and he even told her there would never be anything between them. Guess she heard different, BOTH times before and after he had gotten with Zoey. Her mom though, she should have been in jail too. If your daughter was dead to you then why didnt you stay away? What purpose did you serve showing up to a party uninvited by the guest of honor to make a fool out of yourself AND get told off in the process. Looking forward to book 2...
I can't wait for Sandy to get her just rewards. I cannot understand how Zoey's mother can support her husband with what he did to her only child. I don't understand the mindset of women like that. Some women just don't get the message.
Zoey and Brandon's love came fast for each other and burned hot and super erotic. They felt an immediate attraction for each other. Zoey tried to fight that attraction because of her preconceived notions that she was not worthy of love. Now that Brandon's plan with her is falling into place, they now have the added challenge of dealing with the fall out from Zoey's accident. I can't wait to read book two.
